AboutAbout TypeTrance
TypeTrance helps you type faster and more accurately. It starts instantly, measures honestly and shows you what to practice next. There is no sign-up wall, and your practice stays on your device unless you choose otherwise.
What we believe
The act of typing is sacred
Nothing — no ad, no pop-up, no analytics — runs while you type. The page does its other work before a run starts and after it ends.
Every number is explainable
Our scoring rules are published in full, with worked examples: how scores are calculated.
Private by default
Settings and history live in your browser. We do not sell data, and we do not track you across the web. Privacy notice.
Fair competition or none
Rankings compare only results measured under the same rules, and we say plainly what a browser-based test can and cannot prove.
No free laps
Four rules every score follows, so a number earned here means what it says.
Every error counts
Accuracy counts every wrong key you pressed, including the ones you fixed.
The clock runs the full distance
A timed run is divided by its whole duration, pauses included.
Only clean words score
Speed credits only words typed exactly right, at five characters to a word.
Never rounded up
87.99 words per minute shows as 87, and 99.96% accuracy as 99%.
